You Create Your Own Reality – 101
As amazing as it may seem, ‘you create your own reality!’ We owe this resonant phrase, which has become so integral to the New Metaphysics, to Seth through Jane Roberts.
[Actually Seth said you FORM your own reality more often than 'create' and this formulation has a slightly different feeling to it, but that is a story for another day.]
The point is that we each somehow [understanding this stuff is NOT a pre-requisite for participation!] create or form our own reality, or more precisely, our ‘perception’ of reality, which if we listen to Elias, amounts to the same thing anyway.
[You may not know these names, Elias, Seth, Jane Roberts, Kris, but they are big in the YCYOR world, and a quick google will turn up everything you need to know.]
So anyway, when somebody comes upon these ideas fresh, without much prior thought in this area, a few questions may leap to mind…
The first question may be more of an objection, “What do you mean, I create my own reality! If that’s true I am creating a million dollars right now in my hand… here! And a nice drink in the OTHER hand!”, all said with almost belligerent jocularity [this is when we know for sure we've got a live one!
What would be fascinating to observe is the money and the drink as they appear, fully featured, in Framework Two, superimposed over the empty hands of our friend in Framework One.]
But really, when we think about these ideas fairly, you did create your own hairdo, didn’t you? And your home, of course, and your job really, in the sense that you applied for it. And you could quit at any time. [How much else in our lives, that we may not have considered to date, is there by passive choice, or by default!]
Okay, in certain ways it makes obvious sense that we each create the conditions and circumstances of our own lives. Is this what we mean here?
Yes! And even more. We all know someone who goes around sadly predicting their own failure in something, and ‘lo and behold’, they fail miserably at it! So we begin to see that we create our experiences in deeper ways than by choosing a hairstyle.
But the ‘dead guys’ don’t stop there. Apparently, we LITERALLY create the universe around us, our physical bodies, and everything we perceive with our senses. By the very act of perceiving these things, in fact, we are creating them, such is our power.
Obviously we have no conscious awareness of these deep processes of our own amazing consciousness. [Kris has recently called these deep reality-creation processes our 'material energies'.]
JOHN: You mentioned that at these very, very deep levels where we’re manipulating the material energies, now there’s no real prospect for us to get to widen our awareness to encompass that from this present focal personality is there?
KRIS: That is correct. The idea however of making you aware of that is to awaken your own sense of participation with life, not as in being separate from life, an entity thrown into the lion’s den of life as it were, suffering the ups and downs of everyday experiences, but that instead that you are the source of – not only as a conscious self, but as a whole Self – are the source of and co-creator of all of what you perceive and then some. —Kris Radio: What is the World Made of? – May 22, 2008
This is good news because it means not only are we ‘off the hook’ for not understanding all this, but we will NEVER understand it in detail in our present focus. That’s just not what we’re interested in this time around.
What is our focus? Interestingly, what matters most to human beings is better described by a good psychological novel, than by most scientific, philosophical, or religious teachings.
Our joys are about sharing and people and our horrors are about people too – the whole spectrum of human affairs is about who we are, and what we mean to each other.
We care about how we look and feel, what other people are thinking and doing. We care deeply about loved ones and pets and cherished beliefs. We love music and singing, dancing and playing, food and drink, loving and sharing.
We also love beauty, art, creativity and drama. We enjoy learning and teaching, giving and receiving, pleasuring and being pleasured in many, many ways.
Honestly, we can also be thrilled by speed, danger and even horror, each just as valid an experience as any other at some layers of our being, because there is no judgment at these deep layers, only appreciation. [The human body offers an unlimited range of options for engagement... this is in the blueprint]
Not only do we create our own reality, we have the freedom to create anything we want! [within the potentials of our personalities of course, as they intersect with the blueprints and 'allowed oppositions' of this particular dimension...
What we need to understand is that there are INFINITE potentials within the limitation we have chosen... The whole thing is endlessly holonic! We can't hide anything from ourselves... for long anyway

Hot Fudge Reality
Once a friend asked me how
exactly we create our own reality and
I asked her if she wanted to share
an ice cream sundae
Sure she said and we got our keys and
bags and coats and took the elevator down
to the food court where we got a table and
ordered our desire
We shared a few laughs
until our order came when we observed the
ice cream sundae on the table between us
for a moment before diving in
So that’s how you create your own reality
she said with a mouthful of ice cream
and hot fudge
